About the grants:

For the 420 class, the Orange Bowl International Youth Regatta is a qualifier for the 2009 US Sailing ISAF Youth World Qualifier, which in turn is a qualifier for the Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship. The top nine finishers at the Orange Bowl qualify for the Youth World Qualifiers, which will be held January 17-19, 2009 at the
Alamitos Bay Yacht Club in Long Beach, California. There are at least nine local teams competing in the 420 class at the Orange Bowl, many of whom are previous grant recipients. The Foundation hopes at least one local team will qualify for the event in Long Beach.

Lindsey Gibbons-Neff is a member Team Tannery Loungers. During the Hinman Trophy, the U.S. National Team Racing Championship, the team qualified for one of two U.S. berths at the ISAF Team Racing World Championship. The Foundation is pleased to see Lindsey take her team racing to the next level.

Joe Morris has been telling the Foundation about his Olympic aspirations for several years. The Foundation is proud to support his first Olympic Class Regatta.

The Annapolis Maritime Museum and Box of Rain are pairing up to provide an eight-month long Saturday morning boatbuilding program for underprivileged youths from the Annapolis community. This program will also serve as an informative and interactive exhibition at the Annapolis Maritime Museum. The Foundation is pleased to see these organizations, both former grant recipients, teaming up for such a powerful program.

Grant awardees will be receiving letters shortly with the amount of their individual grant and information about receiving their award.
