Where will my donation go?
AYCF has awarded scholarships to the AYC Junior Sailing Program and provided grants to other community-based youth educational programs such as the Annapolis Police Department’s Youth Fishing Camp, Box of Rain, and Chessie Jr. Racing. Chesapeake Regional Accessible Boating has received AYCF support to make the thrill of sailing a reality for physically and/or developmentally-challenged individuals.
The Foundation has enabled worthy amateur sailors to pursue their dreams of competing in national, international and Olympic campaigns. Our combined support provided funds for Olympic campaigns in RS:X, Finns, Yinglings (Competed in 2004 Olympics) and Stars; the IODA South American Championships, and the International Youth Match Racing Championship, to name a few. The Foundation has also helped local groups host national and international regattas, including the Rolex Women's International Keelboat Championships and the USODA Team Trails. Participants in these programs learn first hand the challenges associated with varied water sports and the importance of protecting the environment…...all because the AYC Foundation was there to lend financial support. |

"When we make grants to Chesapeake Bay area 501(c)(3)s, it's after we first make sure it's for a worthwhile maritime related purpose. That's why donors feel good and have peace of mind about giving to AYC—we do our homework, and make it easier for them to support good causes."

How to Give
The Compass Point
The Compass Point is an ongoing annual campaign that provides regular support for the Annapolis Yacht Club Foundation. The 1883 Society
The 1883 Society was created as a way to recognize and thank donors who have made provisions in their estate plans for a gift to the AYC Foundation, recognizing that the gift may be postponed until after their lifetimes. Donors to The 1883 Society are leaving a legacy in their names to support the mission of the Annapolis Yacht Club Foundation.

Memorial Gifts
Sample wording to designate the AYCF as a beneficiary:
“In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of name can be made to the AYC Foundation, PO Box 908, Annapolis, MD 21404.”
“The family asks that memorial contributions for name be made to the AYC Foundation, PO Box 908, Annapolis, MD 21404.”
“In celebration of name’s life, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the AYC Foundation, PO Box 908, Annapolis, MD 21404.”
Gifts in memory of a loved one can be made to the annual fund or to the endowment fund. This decision does not have to be made immediately. To let the Foundation know how you would like gifts allocated, please contact:
John Howell, AYCF President.
As a funding organization, AYCF sometimes is made aware of a need for a significant contribution to jump-start a program or organization, or to help dramatically increase a program’s impact. These needs do not exist on an annual basis, and are usually one-time contributions on AYCF’s part. Contributions to AYCF’s endowment enable AYCF to be able to exercise its judgement to fund these extraordinary, vital requests to nurture and expand the community that cherishes and stewards the Chesapeake Bay.
In time, endowment income will provide a substantial percentage of the budget for annual grants.
