The Annapolis Yacht Club Foundation serves our community by expanding access to the water through sailing and other maritime activities, while championing local athletes competing at the highest levels of the sport.

To make the water accessible to all, inspiring the next generation of maritime leaders, athletes, and stewards of the Chesapeake Bay.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

For the next 2 years, the High Performance Fund will support amateur member and non-members living in the greater Annapolis area who are training to compete in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. After the Olympics, the fund will likely be open to other regattas and offshore programs.

Application Deadlines

High Performance Fund Grant Applicants can apply for an interview once they have prepared a year-long training and competition plan. There is no specificfixed grant deadline.

 

Additional Information

AYCF does not support or issue grants or scholarships for the following:

• Events or projects that have already occurred;

• Academic scholarships or tuition assistance for undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate studies;

• Annual fundraising drives, fundraising dinners, receptions or performances, honorary functions, debt retirement;

• Overhead costs, building or renovation projects, deficit financing;

• Political activities, capital campaigns, or attempts to influence action on specific legislation;

• For-profit organizations;

• Religious activities; or

• Organizations that discriminate by race, creed, gender, sexual orientation, age, religion, disability, or national origin.

Eligibility

The applicant must:

• be a sailor living in the Mid-Chesapeake Bay area;​

• be a proven contender in a specific class for the upcoming Olympic Games

• demonstrate financial need to execute their proposed plan

• serve as a Role Model &and Advocate for AYCF.

 

Application

Please complete the application form, which will ask you to provide the following:

• a 12-month comprehensive plan of training and competing

• an itemized campaign budget including costs for travel, entries, charter fees, lodging, communications and uniforms

• a sailing resume

• a statement explaining the applicant’s need for the funding

• other sources of support that the applicant is receiving

 

Additional Information

• If funding allows, aAwarded grants are typicallywill be between $50 and $5,000. 25,000 and $50,000 per year.

• AYCF will not provide funding for capital investments, such as sails, hull, equipment, etc.

• AYCF can be the sole sponsor; no matching funds or other sources of support are necessary; however, other sponsors are encouraged.

• We ask the sailor to list AYCF as a sponsor in all social media and regatta registrations

• The High Performance Fund Sub-Committee will make the decision as to whether we will consider the application and grant an interview

• The next step after an interview would be review by the AYCF Advisory Committee with a recommendation made to the AYCF Board of Directors

• Please note that high performance fund recipients would not be eligible for individual Competition Grants within the same year

​The AYCF Board of Directors considers all applications as well as recommendations from our Advisory Committee. AYCF bases its funding decisions on the strength of the application, other grant applications AYCF is reviewing, and AYCF’s financial position.
