KATHY PARKS

Kathy Parks.jpg

Kathy Parks started crewing on large sailboats and later skippered her J22 with all women crews and eventually a J70 with mixed crews. She traveled around the country for regattas including Mid-Winters, North Americans, Key West Race Weeks and two World Championships. After retiring from racing she cruises with her family on their Morris 42, daysails her Topaz by Argo and volunteers on the Race Committee at AYC and the West River Sailing Club. Kathy was an educator and Head of the Middle School at Key School in Annapolis before transitioning to the business world. She owned and ran a local State Farm Insurance Agency before joining State Farm Corporate as a Consultant and later, Agency Field Executive and Sales Leader. She recruited and developed agents and assisted them in building their businesses. Her sales territory was one of the top groups in State Farm.

Kathy is excited to combine her love of sailing with the AYC Foundation’s mission of fostering local excellence in national and international amateur sailing competition, contributing to maritime related charitable and educational organizations and supporting scholarships for underprivileged youths to attend sailing programs. She especially enjoys meeting the athletes and organizations who are lifting and expanding our sport through AYC Foundation grants.
