The AYC Foundation High School Sailing Season Scholarship Awarded to Jonah and Orly Pearlman

Jonah (Jonathan) and Orly Pearlman from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School, who sail with the Severn Sailing Association, were the grateful recipients of High School Sailing Scholarships during this 2026 Spring Season. Although both siblings had participated in sailing camps in previous years, this was their first opportunity to compete together on a competitive high school team. The experience allowed them to develop their racing skills, challenge themselves at a higher level, and deepen their passion for sailing.

Their experiences on the water have also inspired future aspirations. Both Orly and Jonah are exploring careers in the superyacht industry, with a particular interest in solar-powered sailing catamarans. After interviewing a professional in the field and researching specialized training programs, they hope to combine their maritime interests with a liberal arts education.

With one year of high school remaining for Orly and Jonah is eager to continue sailing year-round beyond the spring season, the siblings hope to be future scholarship recipients. The support from the AYC Foundation has been instrumental in making these experiences—and their future aspirations—possible.
